I'd been looking for volunteer work in South Africa
for five months before I found WWISA's web side. A bit sceptical
at first, paying money over the internet to some organisation no
one heard of, after a few exchanged emails with Fred I made up my
mind and within two weeks I had my tickets, injections, a visa in
my passport and could leave Sweden.
Fred and Rocky met me at the airport and I was very happy to to
discover that they existed in real life. I stayed at Rocky Road
for some days and had time to calm down and to sink in to the new
environment that was going to be my place for the next four months.
They made me feel like home in no time and I've been so well looked
after that I have not once regretted my decision to come here.
Since four weeks I now work in a backpackers myself. It suits me
very well when it's like travelling without moving! I work in the
reception and bar, and I meet so many people, locals and travellers,
that share their experiences with me. I will know exactly what to
do and where to go when I finish off this South Africa trip with
a long journey through the country.
