For my first adventure out of the United States, I travelled to South Africa for a little over six weeks. I was hoping to fall in love with the place, but had no idea how hard I would actually end up falling! Rocky Road was more than I could have asked for as home for my stay, and Mac and Rocky were the most amazing hosts ever! Working in Kurland with the kids in the crèche and the primary school was such a fulfilling experience and I keep every single one of those kids in my heard with me wherever I go. Another thing I fell in love with was the scenery. It was wonderful waking up to that breathtaking scene of the mountains from the front yard of Rocky Road, and I miss it every day! It you have a desire to travel, to work with wonderful people in a culture different from yours, and to make the most amazing friends, this is the place for you! I am so lucky to be able to add Rocky Road and South Africa to the list of places I call home!
