The WWISA Experience
To start with I must say that my time working as a volunteer with
WWISA has been the best experience of my life so far. I landed at
Plettenberg bay airport on June the 30th. There was Chris a scottish
volunteer that picked me up. He's giving Rocky a hand at any field.
He's encharged of the orientation program of the volunteers amongst
others. He drove me around Plettenberg bay and he told me about
the area, the people, some stuff about plants... During my orientation
we ended up watching the 2002 World Cup's final at the Lookout,
such a nice place by the ocean which I visited quite often. I came
to SA to work in a project to catch-and-collar leopards. Unfortunedly
after two weeks I had to leave it. It didn't work because the sponsorship
got delayed. Altough I didn't start very well in SA WWISA quickly
gave me the chance to get involved in a wolf project, knowing my
passion for animals. So I stayed nearly 3 months at the Tsitsikamma
Wolf Sanctuary where I raised six wolf puppies. I fed them, I cleaned
them, I studied them and I learnt a lot.
I spended some weekends at Rocky Road enjoying the area and having
a braai in the garden now and again. Now, six days before to leave,
I woud like to see and visit all those places that I'd like to,
but there's too many different things to do around here. Anyway,
the bottom line is that I've experienced an awesome country through
WWISA's hand. They really make the difference.
