When I arrived in South Africa from a very cold
and wintry UK, I really had no preconceptions of what to expect.
What I received when I arrived at Rocky Road, tired and weary after
a long trip, was a very warm welcome to the place which has now
pretty much become my second home! After a few days of the weather
trying to hide the views from me, I discovered the stunning location
which I never tired of having my breakfast in the shadow of. The
following 8 months I made many many friends, been to some of the
most awesome and breathtaking places, been to legendary parties,
witnessed the birth of the hot tub, been the first to submerge in
it, developed a love of camping and Windhoek, attempted to play
petanque, learnt to appreciate the flora and fauna. I loved working
at the library at The Crags primary and received such warmth and
appreciation from the children. Its 5 months later now and I’ve
already been back once, there’s a special place in heart reserved
for Rocky Road and South Africa.
